How to Trim Asparagus and Do You Have To?

You typically want to trim off the woody root ends of the veggie before you cook it. You can also trim that portion off as you're eating it.

How Does it Taste?

Roasted asparagus is loaded with so much flavor! Sometimes steamed veggies can get a little boring. Roasted asparagus packs a little crunch and if you season appropriately, tons of flavor! Check out this Roasted Asparagus recipe that uses the oven. Now you can let the air fryer do the work and save a little time.

How to Cook Asparagus in an Air Fryer

  1. Wash and trim the hard ends off the asparagus.
  2. Drizzle the asparagus in olive oil. You can also use olive oil spray. Sprinkle with seasonings.
  3. Air fry.

Air Fryer Temperature

I like to use 360 degrees.

Cook Time and How Long to Cook

I don't recommend going over 10 minutes in the air fryer. Monitor the asparagus closely because every air fryer brand cooks differently. I like for my roasted asparagus to have a little bit of char, but I don't want it to be too slimy. If you roast it too long you will burn it and will become really soft to the touch.

After the asparagus has cooked for 5 minutes, start to monitor it closely.

How to Cook Frozen

Frozen veggies typically only need an additional few minutes. Air fry the veggie for 3-4 minutes and then open up the air fryer to season them. Air fry for an additional 5-8 minutes.

Is Air Fryer Asparagus Healthy?

Absolutely! This dish has only 1 net carb per serving and is keto, vegetarian and vegan-friendly.

I didn’t have Herbes de Provence so I used The Gourmet Collection spice blends Roasted Garlic, & Sea Salt. I will purchase the right seasoning and update my review. Don’t forget the lemon. This recipe is so good I didn’t remember the lemon until I was almost done eating.

This was so easy and great! Sprayed them with avocado oil seasoned em up lightly and dropped those babies in the air fryer for 7 minutes and forgot about them until we were ready to eat. SO SIMPLE SO YUM! So convenient to do sides in the fryer while I’m finish up the main dishes. Thanks!!

This is the easiest way I've made asparagus and my new favorite. I never thought to make them in the air fryer- I was always worried about them being too crispy. I used 2 bunches of asparagus and cooked for 8 min. They came out perfect, the right crispness but still soft. I'm hooked.

For some reason, I’ve never really liked asparagus I cook at home. Tonight I used the air fryer you recommend (from your Amazon link) and your recipe/directions. It was great and I look forward to getting this veggie into my rotation. Thank you!

I am on a mission to level up my veggie game. This one was easy and didn’t disappoint. My family loved it. Even the non-asparagus eaters. I added a squeeze of lemon juice after I took it out the air fryer. The best part is they still had some crispness to them and a roasted quality. But I didn’t have to turn on my oven. Thank you for this easy recipe!

I am going to try this, but maybe a few things differently. When I saw this recipe I envisioned our Perry's Steakhouse version. They do a panko crusted with a lemon butter and crabmeat topping. I am going to try to do the asparagus the same way you did the Bang Bang shrimp and see what happens.
