I’ve been air frying since 2017, back when folks thought it was just a phase, and these Air Fryer Green Beans are still one of my go to sides. They come out crisp, flavorful, and never soggy, with no extra steps or overthinking. This is how you make green beans people actually want seconds of.

Air Fryer Green Beans Ingredients
- Green Beans
- Olive Oil
- Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Prep the green beans: Wash the green beans and trim the ends. Pat them dry really well with paper towels so they crisp instead of steam.
- Season: Place the green beans in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat. Sprinkle on garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss again so everything is evenly coated.
- Load the air fryer: Add the green beans to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Give them space so the air can circulate. Cook in batches if needed.
- Air fry: Air fry shaking the basket halfway through. Cook time depends on how tender or blistered you like them.
- Taste and finish: Taste and add a little more salt or pepper if needed. Serve them hot for the best texture.

Frequently Asked Questions and Recipe Pro Tips
I recommend 370 degrees.
7-9 minutes was the perfect time for me to give them a soft texture with a crunch. If you like crispy green beans, cook them longer and monitor them.
Absolutely! For frozen green beans, use the same temperature but double the cooking time. Check on the green beans and adjust the cooking time as necessary.
Most of the time it’s too much moisture or overcrowding. Dry them well and cook in a single layer so the air can do its job.
Olive oil, avocado oil, or any neutral oil you like. Just a light coating is enough.
Dry them well, don’t overcrowd, and serve them right away. They soften as they sit.
They’re best fresh, but you can prep and trim the beans ahead. Cook them right before serving for the best texture.
Leftovers can be stored tightly covered and sealed in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheat at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes or until warm.

Tips for Air Frying Green Beans
This recipe is foolproof, especially when you consider these things:
- Use Fresh Green Beans: Fresh is best here. Trim the ends and you’ll get that crisp-tender bite nobody complains about.
- Pat Them Dry: Moisture is the enemy of crisp. If the beans are wet, they’ll steam instead of roast. Dry them well before seasoning.
- Coat Evenly with Oil: A light drizzle is all you need. Enough to help seasoning stick and help them crisp up, not so much that they turn oily.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: Give them space. A single layer lets the air circulate so they cook evenly. If you pile them in, some will be soft while others brown. Cook in batches if needed.
- Shake the Basket Halfway Through: This keeps them cooking evenly and prevents some from getting too dark while others lag behind.
- Add a Flavor Boost: A squeeze of lemon, a pinch of red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze at the end wakes everything up.
- Serve Immediately: These are best hot and fresh. As they sit, they soften. If you want that crisp edge, eat them right away.
