I’ve been air frying since 2016, back when folks thought it was a gimmick, and this is one of those snacks that proves why it stuck around. If you grew up on pizza rolls, you already know they hit different when they’re crispy on the outside and molten in the middle. The air fryer makes that happen every single time, no soggy spots, no busted seams, just golden crunch and cheesy goodness. Listen, once you make pizza rolls in the air fryer, there’s no going back to the oven.

Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onions I like to use red onions.
- ½ pound ground sausage
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup pepperoni
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- 64 wonton wrappers The pizza rolls will be double wrapped
- cooking oil spray
Instructions
- Place a skillet on medium-high heat and add the olive oil onions.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Add the sausage, Italian Seasoning, salt and pepper, and break it down using a meat chopper. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sausage is no longer pink.
- Add in the garlic, marinara sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella. Reduce heat to medium and allow the mixture to cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Line the wonton wrappers (double wrap the wrappers and use 2 wonton wrappers to prevent the rolls from breaking) on a dry cooking surface. Use water and a cooking brush to wet the 4 edges of each wonton wrapper.
- Load each wrapper with the filling. Focus on loading the filling toward one edge of the wrapper. That will make it easier to seal. I used ¾ of a tablespoon of filling in each.
- Seal the wrapper. I like to seal them to make a rectangle. Use a wet cooking brush to seal the closed edge if needed.
- Spray the rolls with cooking oil spray (both sides) and place them in the air fryer. Do not overcrowd the basket. If you stack the pizza rolls, it may require a longer cook time and each roll may not cook at the same speed. I like to use Air Fryer Parchment Paper to make clean up easier.
- Air fry the rolls for 8 minutes on 370 degrees. Open and flip the rolls. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- I love to dip these in warm marinara sauce.

Notes
- You may opt use egg roll wrappers instead of wonton wrappers, if you have trouble sealing the wrappers. Every brand of wonton wrappers is different to deal with and handle. If you use egg roll wrappers you will have to adjust your serving size and nutrition facts accordingly using the calculator of your choice.
- Total cook time will vary based on how crisp you want the bites to be. I like for them to be crunchy.

Pizza rolls blowing out in the air fryer is basically the filling saying, “I tried to warn you.” Don't worry, I learned about this when making my Air Fryer Crab Rangoon. The inside heats fast, pressure builds, and if the dough isn’t sealed right, it splits and you’ve got cheese lava everywhere.
Here’s how to keep them intact:
Seal like you mean it. Press the edges firmly and go back over them with a fork to crimp. If you see gaps, they will open. A tiny dab of water or egg wash helps glue the edges shut.
Don’t overfill. It’s tempting, I know. Too much sauce or cheese creates steam and pressure, which leads to blowouts. Keep the filling modest so they can seal properly.
Light oil spray helps. A quick mist prevents the wrapper from drying and cracking while it cooks.
Don’t overcrowd the basket. They need airflow to cook evenly. Crowding leads to hot spots and bursting.
Single layer only. Crowding traps steam. Leave space so hot air can circulate and dry the surface.
Flip or shake halfway. This prevents one side from sitting in moisture and keeps them evenly crisp.
Rest on a rack, not a plate. If you pile them on a plate, trapped steam softens the bottoms. A wire rack keeps them crisp.
I recommend that if you aren't going to eat the pizza rolls right away, then you freeze them. These cook up wonderfully from frozen, which makes them a great make-ahead snack or side dish.
I reheat frozen pizza rolls in the air fryer on 370 degrees for 4-5 minutes.

Although I did not follow your recipe exactly (I used what I had on hand and freestyled amounts), this was a great guideline and great inspiration. I subscribed and will try more recipes in the future-not just because of this recipe, but your 'about me' resonated with me

These are amazing! This is the first airfryer recipe I have used. I was able to make vegetarian and pepperoni rolls with that this recipe. They are great appetizer for a party.

These are delicious! I subbed turkey Italian sausage and turkey pepperoni and they turned out just fine. Make sure you pay attention on how to roll them so they don’t fall apart. Very easy to make and 10x better than that frozen processed junk.

We had these last night for dinner, and they were a big hit! We are a pizza loving family - I make it once a week, and it was fun to mix it up with these pizza rolls. I doubled the filling ingredients and used eggroll wrappers to feed my always-hungry teenage boys, added a salad on the side, and bam! It was a full meal! Great recipe!
