A few of you guys loved my Charcuterie Board recipe and have asked, “Show me how to make an authentic Italian antipasto salad!” Well, here you go!
This salad is flexible, which means you can add whatever you want to it, and you can take away what you don’t like. It’s also a low carb salad recipe which is a huge win.

What is Antipasto Salad? What Does it Mean?
Antipasto means before the meal. It’s a traditional Italian platter of cured meats, various cheeses, and marinated vegetables. It’s served as the first course before the main dish.
You can make it a salad by adding leafy vegetables and Italian dressing.
The difference between antipasto and antipasti is antipasti is the plural form of antipasto.

Salad Ingredients and What is it Made Of
Common Ingredients include:
- Cured meats such as prosciutto, salami,
- Marinated Artichokes
- Provolone Cheese
- Mozzarella balls cheese
- Olives
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Fresh Basil

How to Make Antipasto Salad
Decide what cured meats, cheese, and marinated veggies you would like. Feel free to add and omit whatever you don’t like.
The meal is traditionally served with cured meats, but I like to use uncured-nitrate free meat with no preservatives. You can find these at Trader Joe’s and other stores like Sprouts and sometimes Target.

- Spread chopped romaine lettuce throughout the bottom of a salad bowl or serving dish.
- Add salami, prosciutto, artichokes, sliced provolonoe, mozzarella, olives, cherry tomatoes, and basil.
- Serve with Italian Dressing.
Antipasto Salad Dressing
The salad is typically served with Italian Dressing. I like to go for dressing without any added sugar so this Primal Kitchen Italian Dressing from Amazon is what I use.

How Many Calories?
The salad has 447 calories per serving. You can reduce the calorie intake by lowering the amount of cheese or meat used in the recipe.
