I’ve been air frying since 2017, back when folks thought it was just a phase, and these Air Fryer Green Beans are still one of my go to sides. They come out crisp, flavorful, and never soggy, with no extra steps or overthinking. This is how you make green beans people actually want seconds of.

Air Fryer Green Beans Ingredients
- Green Beans
- Olive Oil
- Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Prep the green beans: Wash the green beans and trim the ends. Pat them dry really well with paper towels so they crisp instead of steam.
- Season: Place the green beans in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat. Sprinkle on garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss again so everything is evenly coated.
- Load the air fryer: Add the green beans to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Give them space so the air can circulate. Cook in batches if needed.
- Air fry: Air fry shaking the basket halfway through. Cook time depends on how tender or blistered you like them.
- Taste and finish: Taste and add a little more salt or pepper if needed. Serve them hot for the best texture.

Frequently Asked Questions and Recipe Pro Tips
I recommend 370 degrees.
7-9 minutes was the perfect time for me to give them a soft texture with a crunch. If you like crispy green beans, cook them longer and monitor them.
Absolutely! For frozen green beans, use the same temperature but double the cooking time. Check on the green beans and adjust the cooking time as necessary.
Most of the time it’s too much moisture or overcrowding. Dry them well and cook in a single layer so the air can do its job.
Olive oil, avocado oil, or any neutral oil you like. Just a light coating is enough.
Dry them well, don’t overcrowd, and serve them right away. They soften as they sit.
They’re best fresh, but you can prep and trim the beans ahead. Cook them right before serving for the best texture.
Leftovers can be stored tightly covered and sealed in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheat at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes or until warm.

- Buffalo style tossed in warm buffalo sauce.
- Freshly grated parmesan or pecorino cheese

- Everything bagel seasoning

Tips for Air Frying Green Beans
This recipe is foolproof, especially when you consider these things:
- Use Fresh Green Beans: Fresh is best here. Trim the ends and you’ll get that crisp-tender bite nobody complains about.
- Pat Them Dry: Moisture is the enemy of crisp. If the beans are wet, they’ll steam instead of roast. Dry them well before seasoning.
- Coat Evenly with Oil: A light drizzle is all you need. Enough to help seasoning stick and help them crisp up, not so much that they turn oily.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: Give them space. A single layer lets the air circulate so they cook evenly. If you pile them in, some will be soft while others brown. Cook in batches if needed.
- Shake the Basket Halfway Through: This keeps them cooking evenly and prevents some from getting too dark while others lag behind.
- Add a Flavor Boost: A squeeze of lemon, a pinch of red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze at the end wakes everything up.
- Serve Immediately: These are best hot and fresh. As they sit, they soften. If you want that crisp edge, eat them right away.

This recipe is just awesome. My husband and I stock up on frozen veggies as they're so convenient, easy to always have, and tend to be a better deal, but cooking them can sometimes not be as good as cooking fresh ones. HOWEVER, this recipe changes that. Brandi, thank you for including instructions for frozen green beans as well. My husband and I made these alongside homemade dumplings and they were awesome. We're making these green beans again tonight (and probably every other day from here on out.... 🙂 ).
staysnatched says
haha! I'm with you. These are a staple.
John says

The easiest and most delicious green beans! I used to hate green beans, but there’s no way you can when you make this recipe. I’ve made it 5 times already!

Thank you for the idea to air fry green beans! Life changing! I have the 6qt Ninja Foodi 9-in-1, which I don’t think air fries quite as well as the Cosori that Brandi recommends. 370 didn’t appear to be an option for me, so I used 375, and it still took about double the suggested time to get them looking like the recipe photos. I ended up cooking them for a total of about 20 minutes, because I wanted them pretty blistered. All this said, it seems hard to mess this up if you just check on them, and the result is super flavorful, non-chewy green beans. I will definitely be using this method regularly!
staysnatched says
Wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe.
Erin says
Thank you for all the tips and trick in this recipe! I added some grated parmesan cheese last night and they turned out even better. This is now one of my go to sides for dinner during this WFH busy season and is so filling and quick to prep.

Game changer! Much better flavor than steaming and much easier and faster than oven roasting. I used spray olive oil so I didn’t even need to dirty a bowl. Lots of possibilities to change up flavor with different seasoning blends or even finish the beans with some lemon juice and toasted almond slices on top. Thank you for another great recipe!
staysnatched says
You're welcome! These are a favorite!

I just made these and I am now a fan of something other than broccoli and air fryer Brussels Sprouts. I made mine with fresh crushed garlic and made it a little bit more crispy (I love crunch!). Excellent!
staysnatched says
yay! I love that crunch!
Shawna says
This is such an easy and quick way to cook green beans. While they were air frying, I sautéed some fresh garlic and tossed the finished beans into the garlic - so good. I love that the beans still have a nice texture to them when they come out of the air fryer. This is definitely my new go-to way to cook green beans.
staysnatched says
Yes a go-to for sure!
Emily Clark says
I have now shamelessly made/eaten these 3 nights in a row. So easy, fulfilling, and would’ve never thought to airfry them. I add a little sesame seed oil too! Thanks Brandi!!!!!
staysnatched says

Love this method for green beans! Way faster than the oven and gives them a great texture with a little crunch on the outside, but perfectly tender on the inside. Perfect quick side for any meal.
staysnatched says
This is my favorite way to make them.
Erica go4elk says
I loved how easy it was to make these as a side dish (or in today's case, as my lunch LOL) in the air fryer! The consistency of the green beans once cooked was almost exactly like if they were roasted in the oven. I drizzled olive oil straight from the bottle so I probably didn't have exactly 1 tbsp, as there was a lot of 'excess' oil when I poured the beans from the fry basket onto my plate--I'm thinking I would just give the green beans a couple of sprays with olive oil (like from a Pam can, etc.) next time I make them. I also added some additional seasoning beyond garlic powder, salt and pepper--I used this great tomato seasoning I got in New Orleans that a mix of all of the seasonings from the recipe plus some additional ones that weren't called for (like dried basil etc.), so it gave the beans a nice savory flavor. I also added some slivered almonds I had leftover at home and that was a lovely addition.
Lastly, I really loved air frying because the cooking time was minimal compared to roasting, and the clean up is easier too! (I LOATHE hand washing cookie sheets/roasting pans, yuck.)
Thank you, Brandi, for your site and easy-to-make recipes! This was my first time cooking something of yours but I've been a follower on IG for a while now, and will definitely be making (and reviewing) more in the future!

You're welcome! Thank you so much.

Made these for dinner tonight and they turned out so well! Turned the air fryer on at 370 for 10 mins and put the beans in with 8 mins left. Will definitely make again!
staysnatched says
Wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Erika says
Thank you for this simple recipe! I love roasted vegetables but hate how long they take in the oven. I’m not sure why I never thought to use the air fryer... 🙈 The only thing I would change is doing them for a minute or two less because my air fryer must run hot, but that’s a me problem, not a problem with the recipe!
staysnatched says
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nique says
