What is the Best Vodka to Drink on Keto?

No matter what proof vodka you select (80-100), vodka has zero carbs. You will want to make sure you select unsweetened vodka. The flavored vodkas may have sugar and carbs. Pair vodka with water or club soda.

Stay clear of juices and tonic. Tonic water is loaded with sugar. You can read more about The Best Alcohol for Keto here.

How to Make a Keto Low-Carb Lemon Drop Martinis

Are There Carbs in a Martini?

It depends on the martini. Classic martinis like a dirty martini or Cosmopolitan will work great for keto. A dirty martini is made with olive juice and is salty.

Salt is perfect for keto because of electrolytes, which helps cure the keto flu. Stay away from the martinis that are sweet, like chocolate martinis or drinks like Jungle Juice.

Will Alcohol Knock You Out of Ketosis?

While I'm in ketosis one drink will usually do me just fine. I'm the type of girl who typically enjoys a few cocktails when I'm out for a good time.

A keto lifestyle is completely different. You will feel the effects of alcohol a lot sooner. This is due to a change in metabolism and depleted glycogen.

In general, while on a healthy lifestyle alcohol can inhibit results if you are trying to lose weight. When you drink alcohol your liver will use the products of the metabolized alcohol instead of fat. Which means instead of burning fat, your body is working to get the alcohol out of your body.

Occasional drinks should not harm results. If you drink often during the week or every weekend, you could be slowing your fat-burning process down. Read more about If Alcohol Will Knock You Out of Ketosis here.

How to Order Keto Drinks at The Bar?

For me, the best drink to order at the bar is a vodka, club soda with fresh lime. If they don't have fresh limes, do not opt for their lime juice. Simply drink the vodka and soda. This is the safest route.

A lot of bars and coffee shops will offer sugar-free syrups, but you can't always trust they are using the appropriate one. To stay safe, I stay clear of those while out at bars.

Pair these with Keto Lemon Bars, Keto Peanut Butter Cookies, Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies, or Keto Pound Cake.

You will need this sugar-free lemon syrup for the recipe.

Notes

Ultimately, you know how you enjoy your cocktails. If you prefer a stiffer drink, add more vodka. If the drink is too strong add less vodka.
The ingredients above will fill one standard size martini glass. For the smaller martini glasses used in the photos of this blog post, the serving size was equal to a glass and a half.
