Lump Crab or Imitation Crab?

I use lump crab meat. You can find it in the refrigerated meat section of the grocery store.

What is Imitation Crab Made Of?

Imitation crab is also referred to as crab sticks. It's made of white fish that has been shaped to look like crab legs.

How Do You Make Hot Crab Dip?

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients using only half of the cheese in a large bowl.
  3. Spoon the mixture into a baking dish and top with the remaining cheese.
  4. Bake.

How Do You Make Creamy Crab Dip?

The key to getting the dip to have a creamy texture lies in the ingredients. I use cream cheese and Greek yogurt (you can also use sour cream) to help give the inside of the dip a creamy texture. The shredded cheese that you use will help as well.

Can You Make The Dip Ahead of Time?

Yes. If you are planning to make the dip ahead of time, store it in an air-tight container for up to a couple of days. I recommend reheating in the oven for optimal taste.

What Crackers Go With Hot Crab Dip?

  • Crostinis
  • Pita Chips
  • Tortilla Chips
  • Bread

Reheat Instructions

Can you heat up crab dip? Yes. I find it best to reheat it in a 300-degree oven. The microwave works as well.

Can the Dip Be Frozen?

The dip can be frozen for up to a few months. In general, dairy dishes don't freeze as well as other ingredients. It won't taste as good as fresh, but works.

I made it Saturday for Sunday evening. Reheated in the oven.
Served it with Crackers, broccoli, cauliflower and celery. It was an absolutely great dish.
We had low carb and don’t care folks and the unanimous decision was that it was better with the veggies.
It was great, however, with either.

This dip was so decadent and easy to make. The quality of the Greek yogurt will definitely affect the consistency. Fage is my preferred brand of Greek yogurt, but I had the Lidl brand of Greek yogurt in hand and used that. The dip was still delicious, but the consistency mirror the yogurt and was a little runny. Didn’t stop us from eating it, though!

Made this to go with football Sunday and it didn’t miss! I enjoy low carb snacks and have a hard time finding some that don’t make you feel like you’re missing out on flavor. I paired mine with mini sweet peppers...and chips. Both ways were so good. Steps were easy to follow and didn’t take a whole lot of time. At this point, these recipes could call for whatever and I’m buying it and not missing a step. Follow the instructions and you won’t be disappointed.
