If you grew up sipping Orange Julius at the mall, get ready, because my Ninja Slushi version tastes just like you remember, but colder, creamier, and way easier to make at home. I’ve been running this machine since it dropped, so trust me when I say I’ve tested the ratios, fixed the mistakes, and dialed this recipe all the way in. This orange milkshake freezes perfectly, blends silky smooth, and delivers that sweet citrus-vanilla vibe every single time.

Two tall glasses filled with orange Julius slushies, each garnished with a large orange slice and a striped straw, placed on a wooden board with a hexagon-tile backsplash behind them.

Ninja Slushi Orange Milkshake/Julius Ingredients

  • Orange Juice
  • Milk: Any milk, including plant based milk will work. Whole milk works best for thick and creamy texture.
  • Sugar or Sweetener
  • Vanilla Extract
Ingredients for a Ninja Slushi Orange Julius displayed on a granite countertop, including a bottle of milk, a bowl of sugar, a bottle of vanilla extract, and a bottle of orange juice, with the Ninja Slushi machine positioned behind them in a bright kitchen.

How to Make Ninja Slushi Orange Julius

Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. Combine milk, sugar/sweetener, and vanilla extract before adding to the Ninja Slushi Machine. Stir to ensure the sugar/sweetener completely dissolves.
  2. Pour the mixture along with the orange juice into your Ninja Slushi. Press the milkshake button.
  3. Allow the machine to process. Let the machine run for 15-45 minutes, depending on the sugar content and temperature of the liquid.
  4. Once the cycle is complete, place a cup under the self-serve spout and pull the handle to dispense the milkshake.

Frequently Asked Questions and Recipe Pro Tips

Can I make this without the Ninja Slushi machine?

Yes, but the texture won’t hit the same. A blender with ice works, but it won’t give you that creamy frozen slush.

Does this taste like the classic mall Orange Julius?

Yes, creamy, citrusy, and smooth with that sweet vanilla finish.

Can I make it dairy-free?

Yes, any dairy-free or plant-based milk will work.

Can I use bottled orange juice?

Yes, any of your favorite orange juice will work. If you use sugar-free you will have to add sugar or a sweetener like monkfruit or allulose or the machine won't process.

Can I make this boozy?

Yep. Add vodka, vanilla vodka, rum, or orange liqueur.

Can I reduce the sugar?

Yep, adjust it to your taste or swap for a sugar-free sweetener.

How long does it take to freeze in the Ninja Slushi?

15-20 minutes depending on how cold your ingredients are.

Can I prep the mix ahead of time?

Yes! Mix everything and refrigerate for a few hours before freezing.
