When I need a quick sweet treat that feels a little nostalgic but takes almost no effort, this strawberry milkshake is it. It’s creamy, fruity, and made with just a few simple ingredients you probably already have on hand. This milkshake delivers that classic strawberry flavor in under 5 minutes. No stress, no complicated steps.

Two tall milkshake glasses filled with thick pink strawberry milkshakes, topped with whipped cream and yellow-striped straws, placed on a round wooden board with a purple cloth in the background.

Key Ingredients

  • Frozen Strawberries: These help create that thick, icy texture we love in a milkshake. You can use fresh too, but frozen gives it that classic, frosty milkshake consistency—especially when using the Ninja Slushi.
  • Milk: Helps everything blend smoothly and gives the shake a pourable texture. I use just enough to loosen up the mix without making it watery. You can go with dairy or any milk alternative you like.
  • Sweetener or Sugar – This machine likes standard table sugar, allulose, and monkfruit from my personal testing and experience. I use monkfruit sweetener because it's zero calorie.

How to Make Ninja Slushi Strawberry Milkshakes

Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. Combine milk, frozen fruit, and sugar or sweetener in a blender and blend until well combined.
  2. Add the mixture to the Ninja Slushi Machine.
  3. Allow the machine to churn and freeze the mixture until the machine beeps to signal the cycle is finished.
  4. Pull the lever on the spout to dispense the drink. Serve.

Bottom Left: The mixture has begun to freeze, becoming lighter and fluffier in texture, starting to form a slushy consistency. Bottom Right: A nearly frozen, fluffy pink milkshake mixture has formed a mound inside the Ninja Slushi machine, ready for dispensing.

Troubleshooting Tips if You Have Problems with the Machine

  • Check the Liquid Ratio – If the mixture is too thick, the machine may struggle to process it. Try adding 1-2 tablespoons of additional liquid (water or milk) and restart the cycle.
  • Make Sure the Mixture is Cold Enough – The machine works best when the liquid is super cold. If your base wasn’t chilled before adding it to the machine, try refrigerating or briefly freezing it before processing.
  • Let It Process Fully – The Ninja Slushi Machine may take a few minutes to reach the right consistency. Be patient and let it complete the cycle. If needed, restart the process.
  • Check for Ice Blockage – If the mixture is freezing unevenly, it may be too cold or concentrated in one area. Let it sit for a minute, give it a gentle stir, and try again.
  • Ensure the Machine is Properly Assembled – Double-check that all parts (including the lid and paddle) are locked into place. If something is misaligned, the machine may not operate correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Type of Milk to Use

Any milk or non-dairy milks will work in the recipe. Whole milk is the best to get it rich and creamy, ideal for a classic diner-style shake.

Can I make this without a Ninja Slushi Maker?

Yes! A high-powered blender or an ice cream maker works too—just blend until thick and creamy. You will need to use a lot of ice and taste the drink to decide if you need to add more of the ingredients for flavor.

Can I make this dairy-free?

Yes! Use almond, oat, coconut, or cashew milk.

How can I make this thicker?

Adjust the dial on the right side of the machine. The higher up you select, the thicker the milkshake is.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! Store it in the freezer and let it sit for a few minutes before stirring or blending to get the right consistency.

Can I turn this into a protein shake?

Yes! Add a scoop of unflavored or vanilla protein powder to make a creamy protein shake.

Equipment

  • Ninja Slushi Frozen Drink Machine
  • High Powered Blender

Ingredients

  • 5-6 cups frozen strawberries You can use fresh fruit, but it will take the machine longer to process and the texture may not be as thick.
  • ½-1 cup sugar or sweetener
  • 4 cups milk

Instructions

  • Combine milk, frozen fruit, and sugar or sweetener in a blender and blend until well combined. Taste repeatedly and make adjustments to suit your taste if needed.
  • Add the mixture to the Ninja Slushi Machine. Be sure not to exceed 64oz. Power on the machine and press Milkshake.
  • Allow the machine to churn and freeze the mixture until the machine beeps to signal the cycle is finished. You can adjust the thickness of the mixture using the side panel. The slush should take 20-45 minutes. Mine took less than 20 minutes.
  • Pull the lever on the spout to dispense the drink. Serve.
