Ingredients

Scroll to the recipe card below for detailed measurements.

  • Lemon Juice (You can skip making your own and use store-bought lemonade if you wish. Chick-fil-A even sells their lemonade. You can buy and use that if you want.)
  • I also use True Lemon Crystalized Lemon Packets to cut down on the number of lemons used to make this. It's much easier, too.
  • Sugar or Sweetener
  • Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients for homemade lemonade displayed around an empty pitcher: a bowl of sugar, a bowl of lemon juice, lemon halves, lemon powder packets, and water, all arranged on a light surface with a purple napkin in the background.

What is Frosted Lemonade

The Frosted Lemonade at Chick-fil-A combines their signature lemonade and soft-serve "Icedream" dessert. It's super smooth and tastes like a lemony milkshake, but less rich than traditional ice cream-based shakes.

How to Make the Recipe in a Regular Blender (No Ninja Slushi Machine)

You will need to add 2 cups of ice to the recipe (it's noted in the recipe card below) and add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend. Add additonal ice if you need to get it thicker. Add more sugar/sweetener or lemon juice to adjust the drink to suit your taste.

How to Make Ninja Slushi Frosted Lemonade

Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a pitcher or bowl and stir. Taste repeatedly and make adjustments to suit your taste.
  2. Add the lemonade to the Ninja Slushi Machine. Power on the machine and press Slush. Allow the machine to churn and freeze the mixture until the machine beeps to signal the cycle is finished. You can adjust the thickness of the mixture using the side panel. The lemonade should take 20-45 minutes. Mine took 25 minutes.
  3. Add ice cream to the bottom of the cup or glass you plan use to serve the frosted lemonade. I add about ⅓ cup. Pull the lever on the spout to dispense the slushy over the ice cream. Stir to combine the ice cream and slushy.
  4. Serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use store-bought lemonade?

Yes! Store-bought lemonade works great—just make sure it's chilled before adding it to the Ninja Slushi machine for the best texture and freezing results. You can omit the lemon juice (crystalized lemon) and water used in the recipe.

What kind of ice cream works best?

Use your favorite. A creamy, high-quality vanilla ice cream works best for frosted lemonade—it gives the drink that smooth, classic flavor.

Can I make it dairy-free?

Yes, buy dairy-free ice cream.

How long does it take to make?

Mine took less than 30 minutes.

How do I make it less sweet?

Making your own lemonade is the best way to control the sweetness. This recipe shows you how. Add sugar/sweetener to taste and use less of it if you don't want a sweet drink.

How to make a boozy version.

Stick to 1-1.5 oz alcohol per serving – Any more and the drink won’t freeze properly.

Can I use lemon concentrate?

Yes, you can use lemon concentrate, but be sure to dilute it with water and add sweetener/sugar to taste. It’s more intense and tart than regular lemonade, so adjusting the flavor balance is key to getting that classic frosted lemonade taste. Follow the instructions on the package. It will usually tell you how much water to add per serving.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Slushies are best enjoyed immediately, as they can melt quickly. If needed, you can freeze the mixture and re-blend when ready to serve.
