This is one of those shots that disappears fast because everyone wants a second round. If you’re looking for a fun shot that doesn’t taste like straight alcohol, this is it. It’s creamy, fruity, and way too easy to sip. You don’t need a bunch of fancy ingredients either, just a few basics.

Four pink Starburst-inspired cocktail shots with sugar-rimmed glasses, each garnished with skewered pink Starburst candies. More pink Starbursts are scattered on the table in front of the drinks, with a hexagon-tiled wall and deep purple cloth in the background.

Pink Starburst Shot Ingredients

  • Vanilla vodka: Adds that creamy, candy-like flavor that makes the shot taste like the pink Starburst, smooth and just sweet enough.
  • Watermelon schnapps or strawberry schnapps: Brings in the fruity, juicy flavor that gives the shot its signature “pink” taste. Either one works depending on the vibe you want.
  • Sweet & sour mix: Adds the perfect tangy balance so the shot isn’t too sweet, just enough to round it out.

What is a Pink Starburst Shot?

A pink Starburst shot is a sweet, creamy, and candy-inspired shooter that tastes just like the pink Starburst candy, usually the strawberry flavor everyone loves. It's a popular choice for parties because it's colorful, nostalgic, and easy to drink.

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice: You want that shot nice and cold, so don’t skip the ice.
  2. Add vanilla vodka. This gives it that creamy, candy-like base.
  3. Add watermelon schnapps (or strawberry schnapps). This brings in the fruity pink Starburst flavor. Use whichever you prefer or have on hand.
  4. Add sweet & sour mix. This adds the tang to balance out the sweetness.
  5. Shake it up. Put the lid on and shake for about 10–15 seconds, until everything is chilled and well mixed.
  6. Strain into shot glasses. Pour into your shot glasses.
  7. Optional garnish: You can skewer a mini pink Starburst or rim the glass with sugar if you want to dress it up.

The steps include pouring pink liquid and clear liquor into a jigger, transferring it to a stainless steel cocktail shaker, and preparing to shake. Frequently Asked Questions

What does it taste like?

Just like the pink Starburst, smooth, fruity, and a little creamy with a tangy finish. It’s sweet but not over-the-top.

Can I make this as a big batch for a party?

Yes! Just multiply the ingredients and mix everything ahead of time, except the Sprite. Keep it chilled and top each glass with Sprite right before serving for that fresh fizz.

What if I don’t have vanilla vodka?

You can use regular vodka, but vanilla really gives it that candy-like flavor. If you’ve got plain vodka and some vanilla extract or syrup, a tiny splash will help mimic the flavor.

Which schnapps should I use: watermelon or strawberry?

Both work! Watermelon gives it a brighter, tangier flavor while strawberry is a little sweeter and smoother. Use whatever you like or have on hand.

Is it really sweet?

It’s sweet, but balanced. The sweet & sour mix keeps it from being syrupy, and the Sprite adds some lightness. You can tweak the ratios if you like it less sweet.

Can I make it ahead of time?

Yes, but leave out the Sprite until you’re ready to serve. That keeps it from going flat or watered down.

Can I make it non-alcoholic?

Totally. Use vanilla-flavored soda or a splash of cream soda with strawberry or watermelon juice, then add a little lemon-lime soda and sweet & sour mix.

What’s a good garnish?

A pink Starburst on a cocktail pick is always cute. You can also rim the glass with pink sugar for extra fun.

Do I need a shaker?

It helps blend and chill everything fast, but if you don’t have one, just use a mason jar with a lid or stir it over ice.
