Super pressed for time while hosting an event? These mushrooms are the perfect quick appetizer for any situation. They also make a great side dish for lunch or dinner! These stuffed mushrooms use fresh ingredients and definitely rival any version that you can find in the frozen foods section of the grocery store. From start to finish, I was able to whip these up in 15 minutes.

What Type of Mushrooms to Use

You can use whatever mushrooms you like. I like to go for larger size mushrooms because they are easier to stuff and satisfying to eat! I usually use bella or white.

White button mushrooms and cremini mushrooms come from the same species called agaricus bisporus. Cremini mushrooms (also known as baby bella mushrooms) have a deeper, more complex flavor than white ones. White mushrooms are typically mild in flavor.

What Type of Cheese to Use

Grab any of your favorite cheese. I like to use cream cheese, Parmesan, sharp cheddar, and white cheddar.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/8 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves Minced
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cut the stem out of the mushroom to prepare it for stuffing. I first chop off the stem, and then make a circular cut around the area where the stem was. Continue to cut until you have removed excess mushroom.
  • Place the cream cheese in the microwave for 15 seconds to soften.
  • Combine the cream cheese, all of the shredded cheeses, salt, pepper, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl. Stir to combine.
  • Stuff the mushrooms with the cheese mixture.
  • Place the mushrooms in the Air Fryer for 8 minutes on 370 degrees.
  • Allow the mushrooms to cool before serving.

Notes

Temperature results may vary depending on the Air Fryer brand that you use to prepare this recipe. I recommend looking in on the mushrooms after they have cooked for 4-5 minutes to determine how much longer they will need to cook. I like for the cheese to bubble up and I like for a brown crust to form over the cheese. You may need to modify your timing and reduce cook time if this is not your wish.

Hello! I'm so excited! I'm about to try your recipe. I'm thinking about adding little pieces of cut up shrimp to the mix before air frying. My question is: should the shrimp be pre-cooked? Thanks in advance Jen

I use cooked shrimp. Ensure the shrimp is not over cooked when you use it, otherwise it will become dry and mushy when you cook it again.

These are exactly what I was craving!! I added a couple dashes of Franks red hot and a bit of onion powder and smoked paprika as I didn’t have fresh garlic cloves. So good!
